I don’t really know anything about Warbird other than she’s a really new character, so does anyone know why she would object to Jean-Paul and Kyle’s wedding? Her wording is pretty ambiguous in this interaction, so I’m not sure if her refusal stems from her being a homophobic asshole or something else. Is it discussed later?

This…was really a bad scene done badly. What we know about Warbird:

• archetypical space barbarian. She’s a Klingon in a hipster headdress, essentially.
• Kid Gladiator’s guardian. Likely got the last kid she was guarding killed.
• keeps propositioning and sexually assaulting Iceman (I am not kidding; it is grossballs)

So she’s pretty much a blank slate. Northstar’s known her for all of ten minutes at this point, so her refusing to attend should matter precisely squat to him. And yeah, her wording is so ambiguous that not having Northstar ask the obvious question just highlights how forced this whole scene is.

I don’t envy Liu being saddled with her at all, TBH. She just isn’t working in this book at all so far.

Warbird makes no sense. It’s a character I want to like, but unfortunately she keeps assaulting Bobby so I can’t because ew.

But reading this scene, all I could think was, “Seriously, why is Jean-Paul standing there talking to her? Why has he not told her to go fuck herself? Did Bobby slip him some Valium to help him survive the wedding or something?”
