Evil Katey/Good Katey |
KV Taylor writes things. They're scary and sometimes pretty and always f#@ked. KVTaylor.com works, too. Her not-so-secret superhero/pr0n star identity is Katey Hawthorne. She also writes things, but they involve lots of superpowers and sex. Er, romance. Right, that. KateyHawthorne.com FTW. |

BACKWOODS ASYLUM by Megan Derr
Skylar is used to the way people think of him as frightening, mean, and dangerous. Snakes are not the most popular shifters around and the fact he grew up wild doesn’t help. He knows the way he’s chosen to live alone in the woods only makes things worse, but he didn’t think it meant people thought him capable of killing a couple of wolf puppies.
Determined to find the real monster who left them to die, Skylar calls up the only wolf he knows, a man he always wished would see him as more than a snake …Enter for a chance to win a free copy at Stumbling Over Chaos
And I’ll be giving away three additional copies over next week :3
Oh hi there thing I need badly.
Satisfaction Guaranteed — Retail. Food service*. Call centers. Tech support. Delivery. Cleaning services. Taxi driving. Not every job is glamorous and well-paying. Nothing is more grating than getting screamed at, cussed at, spilled on, and talked down to while doing a miserable job just to get the bills paid.
Less Than Three Press is seeking LGBTQ stories about the people working minimum wage hell, exhausting themselves to guarantee satisfaction and make ends meet, always looking for a chance at happiness and satisfaction of their own.
* The editor requests that authors consider food service employment outside of bartenders/baristas as these are commonly explored themes in many contemporary ebooks.

Anthologies are near and dear to the hearts of LT3. All three of us love a good collection of stories. People seem to agree, cause we’ve always gotten great submissions and enthusiastic readers ^__^
Showing off my cover again, because I control this tumblr and I do what I want! :3 :3 :3

PROUD TO BE A VAMPIRE
Predators do not waste time feeling sorry for the prey. They do not bemoan their hunter nature and pretend they have something in common with those they are meant to hunt. True predators find pleasure in the hunt and satisfaction in the kill. Never are those words truer than with the vampires: they threw away their humanity and defeated even death to become the ultimate predator and hunt with relish the prey they used to be …
Less Than Three Press is seeking stories of vampires who take pride in their nature and thrive on the hunt. This is no collection for stories of whiny vampires who pretend they are still human and fight the call of their inhuman nature. We want stories of vampires who love what they are.
LT3 is all about the happiness (who isn’t?)
Love you lots, peeps. You allow us to do a job that makes us happy, put out stories we love, and spread that love far and wide.
Ya’ll keep being amazing and wonderful.
And because everyone loves an excuse for a discount, happy13 will get you 30% off on the LT3 site.
Now go tell someone “You make me happy!”

LT3 MARCH RELEASEES
Lots and lots of shinies for you this month, my most darling peeps.
We’ve got a story of UST in the kitchen, an historic tale of a brat prince and treason, a sci-fi tale of love lost, then found (but still lost), a story of a mysterious, reclusive mask maker, a story of musical strife, a tale of a sweet boy and a mythical beast, and a noble reduced to sexual servitude.
Check them out at LT3. Some are up for pre-order, and the rest will follow soon ^__^
This week, look forward to Honour by A.F. Henley
Okay, first up, Retirement is out! ^__^ It’s a cute, short little thing, but full of magic and snarking and cranky peeps. The whole Kiss Me at Midnight collection is made of awesome, so definitely check it out (seriously, there’s a femmeslash threesome, I can’t even at how awesome that is just for existing.)
Second up! The Novelty Maker is out there and available for anyone to snag a copy. ^__^ I’m seriously pleased with how that one turned out, and hope peeps like it. Also, while at LT3, definitely snag a copy of M’s Sandy Auction story, The Stable Boy. It’s a fucking awesome fairy tale.
And now I am to bed, b/c I’ve stayed up waaaay too late with these shenanigans. Why isn’t it weekend yet?
My pseudo-wife is made of awesome :D Her stories are very very shiny ^__^ Though NGL Battle of Will has me fangirling all over the place
Sasha L. Miller FTW, y’all. Seriously.
LT3’s anthologies, collections, and serial anthologies are amongst some of our most popular offerings. We keep a running list of ideas. Some stuff coming out next: Rocking Hard, If You’re Reading This …, and Proud to Be a Vampire.
What else would you like to see? What else should we put on our list? We’re always open to ideas, we want to give what the readers want!
Superheroes has been mentioned, I approve :3
Yes good.

DEADLINE FEBRUARY 28TH
If You’re Reading This … A message in a bottle, a forgotten letter in a desk, a postcard delivered to an old address. A cry for help, a confession of love, an ominous threat. Words from the past, or perhaps the here and now, or even the future.
Less Than Three Press is seeking stories about what happens when someone chances upon a message cast adrift and left to be guided by fate or chance. From the classic message in the bottle washed up on a sandy beach to whatever the imagination spins, tell us your tales of what happens when that message is at last found and read …
THE DETAILS:
- Deadline is FEBRUARY 28, 2013 11:59 EST (GMT -5) (give or take, we won’t kill you for sending it off the following morning).
- Stories should be at least 10,000 words. Anything less is too short to run as a serial, as we post them in 5,000 word sections. They should not exceed approx 50,000 words in length, as we do not like a single story to run for too long.
- Stories must be m/m or f/f romance (threesomes, etc. are acceptable, but all parties must be the same gender).
- Stories must have a happily ever after (HEA) or happy for now (HFN) end.
- All usual LT3 submission guidelines apply.
This collection is centered around the theme of ‘messages cast adrift’. All stories must have a strong tie to this theme. Any sub-genre is gladly accepted: sci-fi, mystery, contemporary, steampunk, etc.
If You’re Reading This … will run as one of LT3′s serial anthologies. Stories will run one by one on a biweekly basis, to be compiled into a single anthology at the end of the series. Current examples of serial anthologies are Bad Moon Rising and Something Happened on the Way to Heaven. They’re an extremely popular aspect of our serial stories, as readers like the shorter stories mixed in with some of our longer running works.
Payment will be $200 on acceptance of the story and 5% of gross subscription sales while your story is in the serial rotation. Authors will receive one copy each of the ebook formats LT3 produces and two copies of the paperback compilation.
Stories should be complete before submitting, and as edited as possible. They can be submitted in any format (doc, docx, rtf, odt, etc), preferably single spaced with a space between paragraphs, in an easy to read font (Times, Calibri, Arial) with no special formatting (no elaborate section separation, special fonts, etc). Additional formatting guidelines can be found here.
Any questions/concerns should be directed to the Editor in Chief, Samantha M. Derr, atderrs@lessthanthreepress.com (or you can ping her on twitter @rykaine).
